Comic fans vs. mainstream america - Spider-Man 2 Reviews

Okay, if you're a comic book fan (especially a Spidey one) you're going to have some problems with this movie. Without giving anything away, be prepared to see Spider-Man 2, but don't expect to see Spider-Man. I think Sam Rami, who is a Spidey fan, has gotten lost in the whole "Peter Parker Angst" saga of Spider-Man (I blame the critics from the 1st movie who seemed to forget that it was a comic movie and categorized it as a Romance). The great thing about the comic was that it could give you some human emotion, while providing a kick butt action-story around awesome villians. Spider-Man 2, however, is just a romance story with a bit of action on the side. As a girl who loves comics and action movies, I hate to say this, but Spider-Man 2 is a chick flick! God, how much, "MJ I love, you. No, I don't. Yes, I do." do I have to listen too. The comic knew when to quit with this. The movie does not, and makes this the main part of the story. Yes, Peter is pathetic. We know, we know- stop already! But, anyways, the special effects were great and you'll never want them to stop in place of "Peter do you love me? I know you do. Do you? Peter, you know you love me." The set-up is good for Spider-Man 3. Possibility of having 2 villans.
