THis is in no way better than the first one. It is soooo slloooowwww.
They just drag the movie.
The special effects were good - as good as the first one. No new surprises.
Unfortunately, spiderman2 sucked!!! - Spider-Man 2 Reviews
Movie was too slow. Fustrated w/ all the B/S love story. His character was of an idiot in love and not how a typical person would really act. Come on, the only good thing about the movie was the special effects and even that was still not worth my $10.00 and that's not including the other stuff we have to buy

B-o-r-i-n-g!!! - Spider-Man 2 Reviews
I am a huge fan of the first SpiderMan movie, so I figured that since the second one got an "A-" from the critics...I was like, "Wow". This must be some good movie. My friend and I went to see it and it was so boring. Nothing was good about it...I kept checking the time like every 15 minutes hoping it was soon to be over. Don't waste your money. Wait til it comes out on DVD/VHS to see it!
Spider-man 2 soars high - Spider-Man 2 Reviews
It is amazing. This film really soars in every way. The story, directing, acting, cinematography, and score are all incredible. It truly is a sequel that has proven that not all sequels pale in comparison to their predecessor. I am so excited about how well it was done.
In the packed out auditorium at the midnight showing, everyone cheered the moment it started. Danny Elfman?s score has been pumped up for this new installment and sounded absolutely amazing behind the opening credits. The story just propels from here. Every detail about every moment has been taken care of and each character has grown so much in the past two years.
Tobey Maguire was once again perfect as Peter Parker. Ever nuance of the tragic hero was perfectly played without shame or reservation. He really got better during the two years that passed between filming. There was such complexity of character that really made him more human.
Kirsten Dunst also was great at playing M.J. Thankfully her bright hair was a little more subdued this time around but in no way was her acting or characterization subdued. She really brought a new level of emotion to her character that went beyond the screaming of her first screen attempt. Not saying that she wasn?t great in the first one, but this time she really hit her role head on.
Alfred Molina: what can I say? He was such a great villain. Like Maguire and Dunst, he also had such a great level of depth and he really seamlessly jumped into the Spider-Man franchise with panache. You will love to hate him.
James Franco was a great best-friend-turned-tortured-enemy. It was sad to see the destruction of the friendship that Peter and Harry shared. This really enhanced the film and tied it in nicely with the first one.
The rest of the cast, including Rosemary Harris and J. K. Simmons were once again wonderful, adding their own great touch to the film.
Sam Raimi is such an interesting director. He really knows how to add together humor, action, romance and drama for a great movie-going experience. It really was a good directing job?and it would probably safe to say the best directed comic book film to date. He used visual effects to propel the story, not just making it eye candy but really giving top notch filming style with seamless effects.
Overall, this film was incredible. It was not absolutely without a doubt perfect, but what film is? There were a few times where campy humor was used, but hey?it is a comic book film and campy humor fits nicely?and not in a bad way. From start to finish I was entertained and surprised. It was in no way predictable and held me on the edge of my seat?and smiling like a child every time I got to watch Spidey swing through New York City.
If you are looking for a good time at the theater this summer, this film is a must see. I loved it and can?t wait to see it again.
Bow down my friends... it's just that good. - Spider-Man 2 Reviews
Sequel? The thought first made me cringe, a reaction that perfectly warranted. I can name barely a handful of sequels that were in equal balance to their predecessor, even less when it comes to pretentious Comic/Superhero films whose only intent is to exploit CGI... the latter would include X Men 2, The Crow (City of Angels), and debatably Batman Forever (Can't say Returns was very appealing, but Walken and DeVito are just novelties).
When you watch SpiderMan2, you realize there has been an absolute throw off in the balance, for it's evident... it's better. After seeing this film, you'll bow your head in shame to the prequel and boggle your mind, wondering why it took so long for this masterpiece to be produced; though it's obvious. Good things happen to those who wait, and this is most definately a very good thing.
The visuals are absolutely stunning, and no longer are you going to narrow your eyes at the horrible editing as we saw in the first Spider Man, where the 'web slinging' and 'swinging' were horrendous, maybe even laughable. Here, you tend to be mislead, maybe even persuaded to believe this is realism at it's best. It's very convincing, but do not fear, for this is not a CGI exploit (well, we can argue that point). Read on.
The dialogue and performances easily equal to the action and graphics, so were not yet reminded of the idiots who casted in Star Wars, where every speech and conversation is muttered by daft nits who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag (Hell, Star Wars is the type of film that would even accept stiff, monotonous boards of wood like Keannu... bastard). Tobey Maguire and Dunst manifest such a keen chemistry and that was ultimately lacking in the first film, and it is this chemistry that does indeed draw sweet reactions from the audience, maybe even a few tears for you sensitive folk (The type who shed tears during Edward Scissorhands).
Now, there's another element that is absolutely paramount in this case... the protagonist, or as Comic Book fans know by now, the Villain. Doctor Ock lacks the over the edge acting like the Green Goblin does, but unlike the unmemorable Osborne, the Ock leaves a lasting impression. This character has feelings, and can easily be related to from all angles, in fact, he and Peter both share that 'everyman' persona. It's urgent that we see one of the easily unearthed morals here, the gift of choice.
Of course, none of this would be possibly without the absolutely brilliant direction of Sam Raimi (Yes, you heard me. The same man who brought us the cult classic Evil Dead series). Spider Man 2 is without a doubt, this Sam's Ark, and we are more then willing to embark.
The story is basic enough, but it's laced with so many classic elements were are reminded of the provenance of the entire franchise, the Comics. Romance, adventure, action and thrill, this is a movie for all audiences.
Now, one thing I've gone and done often here is relate this film to other "Comic book" movies, which is infact a sin if ever there was. Spider Man 2 is not a comic book movie... no, it's far more complex and far more worthy. So, think this not as one of the finest Comic movie ever (For in visuals, acting, and directing, it does in fact, out do the long time 'champion', Superman)... but think this as one of the best movies of the summer, simply dub it as what it deserves.
Priceless, innovative, enticing... this is a movie for the ages. Spider Man 2 is; no, pardon me. Spider Man, through out all of it's premature themes and bluntless, can be classified as one of the best movies this year.
Editors Note: If you don't laugh or at least snicker at J.K Simmons' performance as Jameson, then you are inhumanly cold and should be sedated for you have little place in the world.
(Pardon any spelling mistakes, especially with Characters... I tend to disregard such technicalities).

Huge action! - Spider-Man 2 Reviews
theres no doubt that this was the best action film of the year! A perfect sequel. some comic book fans were very dissappointed! I don't know why they said that! It has revealing secrets! It's equal or even better than the first! The scen on the train is amazing! the film is funny too! It's just irressistible!
Comic fans vs. mainstream america - Spider-Man 2 Reviews
Okay, if you're a comic book fan (especially a Spidey one) you're going to have some problems with this movie. Without giving anything away, be prepared to see Spider-Man 2, but don't expect to see Spider-Man.
I think Sam Rami, who is a Spidey fan, has gotten lost in the whole "Peter Parker Angst" saga of Spider-Man (I blame the critics from the 1st movie who seemed to forget that it was a comic movie and categorized it as a Romance). The great thing about the comic was that it could give you some human emotion, while providing a kick butt action-story around awesome villians. Spider-Man 2, however, is just a romance story with a bit of action on the side. As a girl who loves comics and action movies, I hate to say this, but Spider-Man 2 is a chick flick!
God, how much, "MJ I love, you. No, I don't. Yes, I do." do I have to listen too. The comic knew when to quit with this. The movie does not, and makes this the main part of the story. Yes, Peter is pathetic. We know, we know- stop already!
But, anyways, the special effects were great and you'll never want them to stop in place of "Peter do you love me? I know you do. Do you? Peter, you know you love me."
The set-up is good for Spider-Man 3. Possibility of having 2 villans.
